Indian elections: their international implications

New Delhi, India Current Affairs April 1 @ 1:06am

India is holding its elections after five years to choose the next Prime Minister in April and May. A range of security and economic issues are at stake in the world’s second biggest country which the US regards as a force to counter or contain the rise of China. India is also the world’s biggest arms buyer and second biggest purchaser of oil.
Indian elections also has wide implications for the Middle East, more so after the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia recently tried to soften the aggressive postures that India and Pakistan adopted against each other.
