What is Node.js: Definition, Functions, and Benefits in Web Development
11 Dec 2024  |  medium.com  |  Indonesian  |  Web Development
Node.js, developed by Ryan Dahl in 2009, is a JavaScript-based platform for building server-side applications. It allows developers to run JavaScript on the server, offering a scalable, fast, and efficient runtime environment. Node.js is event-driven and non-blocking, making it ideal for real-time applications like chat and streaming. Its popularity stems from high scalability, a unified language for server and client-side development, a rich ecosystem via NPM, and an active community. Despite its advantages, Node.js has limitations such as being single-threaded and lacking standardization. It remains a top choice for developers seeking to build responsive and scalable web applications.

The Ballad of Seth Ferranti, Who the Cops Just Won’t Leave Alone
30 Dec 2024  |  www.vice.com  |  English  |  Criminal Justice
Seth Ferranti, known as 'the Outlaw Filmmaker,' was recently arrested with over 400 lbs of cannabis, reigniting his long-standing conflict with US law enforcement. Ferranti, who served 21 years in federal prison for drug-related offenses, has since become a filmmaker and journalist, advocating against the War on Drugs. His recent arrest in Nebraska, a state that recently legalized medical cannabis, highlights ongoing legal challenges for individuals outside regulated frameworks. Ferranti plans to contest the legality of his arrest, arguing against the justification of cannabis scent for searches. Despite facing potential imprisonment, Ferranti remains defiant, viewing himself as a misunderstood activist ahead of his time.

15 Jan 2025  |  www.aljazeera.com  |  English  |  Technology
As the US prepares to ban TikTok on national security grounds, American users are migrating to Xiaohongshu, a Chinese social media platform known as 'RedNote' in the US. This shift highlights cultural exchanges and regulatory challenges, as Xiaohongshu does not currently restrict content based on Chinese regulations. The influx of US users is seen as both an opportunity and a risk for Xiaohongshu, with potential regulatory complications. The migration underscores the growing influence of Chinese apps in the US and serves as a warning to both the US government and Silicon Valley about the competitive landscape.
