I am a journalist and film critic based in Cork, Ireland.

I currently work as a foreign correspondent for the EU-funded press agency Cineuropa. I regularly write reviews, interviews, news and industry report about Irish and European cinemas. Moreover, I am a film curator for the project Support to EU Film Festivals, whose primary mission is to enhance the quality of EU Film Festivals organised by the delegations of the European Union worldwide. I occasionally work as a freelance festival consultant and as an External Examiner in Film Studies for the International Baccalaureate.

I am a PhD Excellence Scholar in Film and Screen Media at University College Cork. My research project comprises the writing of an academic dissertation and the making of a feature-length documentary film. I have been lecturing and holding conferences in France, Ireland, Latvia, India and Poland.

I am skilled in print and online content creation, video and audio production, as well as social media marketing and branding.

I have blogged under many website names but I have recently started from scratch with Compassionate Fox. At this site I have taken my passion for animal welfare and liberation and coupled it with my love of writing and content creation to bring readers a place to educate themselves, their family and their friends about living a cruelty-free and vegan lifestyle. They can also enjoy features, profiles, interviews, reviews and recipes, and I encourage open discussion in my comment sections.

Apart from professional writing I also have a penchant for creative writing. I have studied the art with Joseph O'Connor, Donal Ryan, Giles Foden and Mary O'Malley at the University of Limerick. During the course I began writing my first novel, which I am still working on. I also enjoy writing short stories, poetry and have recently begun drafting my very first screenplay for a sci-fi movie, with notions of a horror script following that.

I assist faculty and organisational leaders at Cork University Business School to publish aspects of their research in media outlets or branded newsletters. 

Working at the interface between research, industry and public engagement, during the 2018/19 academic year, I helped CUBS faculty reach Read moreover 500,000 readers on RTE Brainstorm and The Conversation. As part of my role, I also work with faculty to develop content in the thought leadership space for publication in the Irish Times Business Supplement and The Journal.ie.

Before joining UCC Academy, I was Head of Rugby and Deputy Editor at Pundit Arena, where I developed strategies to boost web traffic in such a way that the company would act as a disruptor that would win the attention of sponsors, advertisers and sports marketing brands.

I penned a book titled Kerry and the Royal Munster Fusiliers and wrote articles in peer-reviewed journals.

One of which, Divided Loyalties: The Effect the Boer War and its Aftermath had on how Irish Nationalists interpreted the Irish Soldier Serving in the British Army was included in the inaugural edition of the British Journal of Military History alongside contributions from some of the biggest names in the field.
