Barcelona's anarchist neighbourhood. The aftermath of the 'expropriated bank'

Barcelona, Spain Current Affairs February 21 @ 4:59pm

Gracia's famously been Barcelona's most socially active neighborhood. Birthplace of the independentist' party "CUP", it hosted the 'expropriated bank', an occupied office that held cultural programs and was a longtime landmark of the district. However, the anarchist movement suffered a backlash when the council decided to oust its occupants, causing massive riots and clashes within the owners of small businesses and those defending the bank. But what's the situation like nowadays? The bank seems to have fallen into oblivion and the once active neighborhood is somehow shifting into a more hipster-like type of destiny.
